Hey y’all - I need your help! I’m looking for resources for anti-oppressive, empowering sex work education resources.
From a friend:
“Throwing it out there: at the Town Hall meeting with Police Chief Devon Clunis tonight, I told some cops that I would get back to them with some resources about sensitivity training around the sex trade & exploitation issues. Some of the language used was a little troubling (saying that the women were “prostituting themselves” etc.) but I am hopeful that there is a lot of good intention and receptiveness here. I really got the feeling that they want to learn from us. The overall response from the police was positive and gave me a lot to feel hopeful about.
How can we educate them about what language is most respectful when it comes to street workers, power dynamics, and poverty? Do you know of people or agencies who are doing good work in this area that I can point them towards? What work is happening at the provincial level that they may not be aware of?”
